About Global Hearing Aids
Global Hearing Aids, owned and operated by Bill and Carol Collins, has been a fixture in Alamance County since 2001. The first location started on East Center Street in Mebane and eventually relocated a few steps down to West Center Street, where they purchased and renovated the approximately 100 year old Napa Auto parts building. After seeing the community’s need for their services, Carol and Bill decided to open up a location in Burlington, on O’Neal Street.

Bill and Carol have always been involved in medical fields. Carol, a registered nurse since 1979, decided to go back for her Master’s Degree after years as a public health nurse. She wanted to branch out into a different health field and looked into Speech Pathology. Some of the required classes were in hearing and she immediately felt a connection with the field of Audiology. Carol completed her Master’s from The State University of New York in 1994 and worked for another hearing aid company for four years prior to opening Global Hearing Aids. Bill, a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant, worked in a hospital as a young man. In the Air Force, Bill worked in life support, sustaining life in combat, and rose to a superintendent level in his twenty years of service. Bill’s penchant for helping others led him to become a Hearing Aid Specialist in 1995.

After years of working for others, Carol and Bill decided to venture out on their own. Their prior jobs allowed them to only offer one product to clients, quite often limiting their ability to help clients with varying levels of hearing loss. By opening up their own business, they knew that they could assist clients better with their needs. They chose Alamance County because of the great community atmosphere, friendly people, and limited traffic. In addition, Mebane did not have a hearing aid location to serve the community, so they knew that there was a need for their services. When the owner of a hearing aid business in Burlington decided to retire, Bill and Carol decided to open a second location to better serve their clients who lived farther away.

Since opening their doors, Bill and Carol have helped thousands of people hear better. They understand how pertinent it is for people to hear and work tirelessly to improve the lives of everyone who walks through their doors.
